This should be moistened and compacted with a vibrating plate compactor to achieve a consistent thickness and compaction in the sub base. When done correctly your finished paving will not sink or settle. In heavy traffic areas such as driveways, or where water may come into play, as around a swimming pool, an additional 50mm of compacted crushed road base should be considered below the bricky’s sand to ensure longevity of your paving product.
